Being well-groomed as a modern man can mean a lot of things. You have a skincare routine, you understand the ins and outs of caring for and styling your hair, you enjoy a fine fragrance. Hell, you may even partake in a little botox and filler. Any or all of these mean you are doing the damn grooming thing and we salute you. In addition to all that, more and more men these days are manscaping—meaning they’re trimming or shaving their body hair below the neck. We’re here to tell you, body grooming can be very satisfying—not to mention help with things like swamp ass and even BO.
Grooming your body hair does not necessarily mean you need to be puritanical about ridding yourself of every little hair you find in the various nooks and crannies of your nooked-and-crannied body. Go completely au naturale, should you so desire! But if you've plumbed the depths of your psyche and discovered that, yeah, doing a little body grooming sounds like a good plan, you might want to check in with yourself a bit more than you have been.
There are a lot of factors that go into choosing a body groomer beyond just how well it cuts. Do you want to use it in the shower? Do you want a close shave or just to trim? Do you want to trim while you travel? No matter your experience level with body grooming, the trimmer options rounded up here take all the guesswork out of the process by doing their absolute best to make the path towards a better-groomed you slightly less hairy (puns!) while ensuring you don't completely fuck it up along the way. These are picks we've tried and loved—and we’re betting you will, too.
Best Body Groomer For Hard To Reach Areas
Panasonic Electric Body Groomer
Now 27% Off
Pros
- Skin Protective blade technology
- Innovative design helps reach difficult areas
- Unique V-shaped head with thin blades
Cons
- Short battery life
- No full-charge indicator
Panasonic's signature body groomer comes with three angled heads so you can more easily maneuver around hard-to-reach areas of your body, including certain regions that'd be otherwise nearly impossible to shave evenly. Plus, its sure grip means it'll be hard to slip up when you're handling anything even remotely close to your private parts, so you can shave with a steady hand (and a regular heartbeat).
We’ve tested a lot of body groomers and frankly, it’s pretty hard to surprise us. But this one blew us out of the water from the minute we put it to our skin. The design is unlike any other we’ve tried. Since the blade is positioned vertically, instead of horizontally like other trimmers, it’s able to be more nimble and can reach into smaller nooks and crannies that others have a much harder time reaching. It takes a bit of getting used to, especially figuring out the best way to hold it (kindof like a hairbrush), but that learning curve goes fast once you start the process. The two length combs allow you to customize the length of hair anywhere on your body and the powerful blades power through thick and coarse hair easily. Not only is it one of the easiest body groomers to use, but it’s also one of the fastest we’ve tried.

Features | Skin protective blades, unique handle and head design, multiple length options, cordless charging station |
Top Review | “It takes a little getting use to with the blade on the side. After using it does feel more ergonomic and easy to hold. Long battery life after each charge. Gives close shave and no nicks.” |
Pros
- Easy to use rotary dial
- Innovative wraparound safety guard
- 20 different cutting lengths
Cons
- Cutting may take multiple passes when guard is on
The features of this new body trimmer read like a checklist of everything you want from your ideal groomer. It’s completely waterproof so you can use it in the shower (goodbye messy cleanup), the blades are specially designed for, shall we say, sensitive skin and cut through even coarse hair with ease, the wraparound safety guard protects your skin from nicks and cuts, and it boasts 100 minutes of run time on a single charge. But the best thing about this groomer is the length dial, which is able to adjust the blades to 20 different lengths, which means you get way more length options than you do with any other trimmer on this list and can go from short to long (and anywhere in between) without stopping to switch guards.
You’d think that a body groomer this packed with features would feel clunky to use, but you’d be wrong. This trimmer is all about convenience. What we loved most about it in our testing process was how easy it was to use. Since it doesn’t use extra attachments to cut at different lengths (thanks to the rotary dial the adjusts the blade length), you’re able to toggle between lengths extra quickly. It’s especially great if you’re cutting multiple lengths into one general area like your torso. You don’t have to hunt around for different length attachments, slowing down your trimming flow. We also appreciate the long battery life, which means you can use this to literally trim your entire body without needing to stop to charge.

Best Body Trimmer For Travel
Philips Norelco OneBlade Face + Body Hybrid Electric Trimmer
Pros
- Includes two blades—one for face, one for body
- Multiple length combs
- Small and easy to use
Cons
- Some reviewers say the combs don’t stay on well
There’s a lot to love about this unique trimmer. The blade and handle are shaped more like a razor, so if you’re not used to a bulky trimmer, this is a great option (plus it’s lightweight like the razor you’re used to). The blade cuts close—like actually shaves—unlike other trimmers that don’t shave down right to the skin. This “body” version comes with a variety of length combs so tailoring the length of hair to different places on your body (including your beard) is a breeze. Perhaps best of all, it’s small and lightweight for hassle-free trimming on the go.
We’ve been using the Philips OneBlade for years and have come to believe it is one of the most essential grooming tools on the market. Not only is it great for shaving your face, but this version with the additional length guards is great for your body, too. You can’t argue with the convenience of the OneBlade. It’s a tiny package – about the size of a disposable razor—and shaves like one too, except you can cut in multiple directions. For such a small device, it’s incredibly powerful at cutting through hair (it’s the innovative blade design) that can cut almost as close as a traditional razor. It’s the most nimble and versatile grooming tool we’ve ever used and we use it to cut and trim from head to toe. We will note that when you’re shaving or trimming large areas, it does take a bit of patience since the blade is fairly small, but that’s a small price to pay for such an easy to use tool for a truly customizable trimming experience.

Top Review | “By far the best trimmer I've ever owned. From trimming my beard to just above stubble to places a bit more private, it works exceptionally well and far, far better than I expected.” |
Pros
- Wireless charging dock
- Replaceable blades for multiple areas
- LED spotlight
Cons
- Some users say it nicks skin easily
If you've seen Manscaped's advertisements anywhere online and are feeling wary, worry not: The brand is more than its tongue-in-cheek marketing statements. Its Lawn Mover 3.0 model, while still cheekily named, might actually represent what the brand refers to as the next frontier in below-the-waist trimming. It's specifically engineered to protect you from any potential fuckups when you're at your most exposed, and comes complete with adjustable guide combs that can handle any amount of hair, no matter how coarse.
There’s a lot to love about the Lawnmower. It’s an intuitively designed, lightweight device that we found incredibly easy to use, not just because of the features themselves, but also because the design itself allows it to fit in your hand easily and it’s lightweight enough that you don’t have to worry about dropping. The powerful blade is single direction, meaning if you’re used to trimming with a multi-directional blade, it may take some getting used to, but we found that it’s an effective trimmer on every part of your body. We also really like the LED spotlight, which might seem a little gimmicky on paper, but in practice it makes trimming areas like your groin much easier because you can actually see where you’re trimming (an underappreciated, but essential part of trimming).

Pros
- Trimmer/razor combo set
- Autosensing motor adapts to hair density
- Comes with detailing attachments
Cons
- Some users found the trimmer to feel flimsy
Braun's multi-grooming kit includes everything you could ever need when it comes to giving your body hair a long-overdue upgrade. Among other things, the kit comes with four different combs and an adjustable dial—covering over a dozen precision lengths—and a specific trimmer attachment for almost every body part you have capable of growing hair. Plus it's fully washable, which makes it super easy to clean and means you can use it in the shower if that's more your thing.
This is truly an all-in-one system, not just capable of trimming the hair on your body but pretty much everywhere else. We appreciate the nose hair attachment and detail heads, but really like the foil shaving attachment. Most trimmers, including this one, won’t give you a completely close shave even when you use the blade itself (this is by design and the nature of trimmer blades), but if you like a smooth finish, then the foil shaver attachment is going to give that to you. It’s something many trimmers don’t include but we really appreciate since we do prefer some areas on our bodies to have a smooth, shaved look. And if that foil shaver doesn’t give you the smooth results you want, this kit also includes a cartridge razor to use how you please. It’s a thoughtful addition to an already well-thought-out device.

Best Trimmer/Shaver Combo
Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7000 Showerproof Dual-Sided Body Trimmer and Shaver for Men, BG7030/49
Pros
- Trimming and shaving in one device
- Rounded blades to protect sensitive areas
- 5 adjustable trimming lengths
Cons
- Needs multiple passes in some areas
Philips makes some of the most technically capable body groomers in the game, and its Series 7000 trimmer represents the best of what the brand has to offer at a relative bargain of a price. The two-headed device allows for a seamless transition between areas you want completely shaved and others you only want to trim, and its ergonomic design means it won't be slipping out of your hand while you're reaching around tricky angles.
Our favorite thing about the Bodygroom is the fully integrated design. Some other trimmers feature both foil shaver heads and trimming heads, but none of them offer them already built into the same device. Sure, there are some other trimmers we tried that allow for more length options on the trimmer side, but that’s okay for us because we found that the length options this one provides are more than enough to get the job done to our satisfaction. What we like most is that you can switch from trimming to shaving by just flipping the device and pressing a button. It makes grooming your entire body extra quick and effective without the need to switch heads or, worse, switch devices entirely. Anything that saves us time like that is a win in our book.

Pros
- Can be used on head, face and body
- Includes a specific body shaving attachment
- Long battery life
Cons
- Trimmer is a little heavy
If you’re looking to streamline your grooming experience and want to invest in a trimmer that does it all, this is your ticket. It’s powerful enough to give a professional-level haircut (whether you’re a DIY-er or have someone help you), but it also can serve as a beard trimmer and, of course, a highly-effective body trimmer. There are plenty of attachments so you can easily customize the length of your hair wherever you’re trimming, between 19 different lengths and there is an included attachment specifically designed for shaving body hair, which works like a dream. The design is hefty stainless steel so it feels substantial in your hand and the long battery life means you hardly ever have to recharge it.
The downside of many body groomers is in the power. So many of them lack the cutting power you see in trimmer designed for your head (part of that is by design, since you’re typically using a body groomer to cut very delicate areas). The way the Multigroom solves this problem is by basically making this a trimmer for your head, that just happens to also be able to cut the hair on your body safely. Make no mistake, this is a heavy duty trimmer that is going to get the job down with near-professional level power and that’s why we like it. It feels hefty and powerful in your hand and the cutting proficiency is almost unmatched. In our testing, we found only two downsides. One, since it is very powerful, you don’t want to use it on sensitive areas with a guard (luckily there is a body shaving attachment for that) and there are a ton of length combs that are designed for your body, hair and beard that can be hard to keep track of. But if you’re looking for only one tool to use literally head to toe, this one is your best bet.

Top Review | “In my opinion, it stands as the best electric groomer I have ever used, offering an incredible blend of quality, longevity, and versatility.” |
Pros
- Built-in adjustable length comb
- Head pivots for ease of use on all parts of your body
- Travel pouch included
Cons
- No additional length attachments
Anyone who has tried to groom anything on their bodies knows that it’s all about the angle, especially when you start getting into hard to reach places or areas with lots of curves and angles. This trimmer has an innovative pivoting head to address that exact problem. It can be locked into five different angles so no matter what you’re trimming, you can get the most effective angle to power through hair quickly. The adjustable length comb is handy when you want to quickly switch lengths without needing to search for different attachments.
The reason we like this straightforward trimmer so much for large areas like legs is that the pivoting head makes long strokes with the trimmer easy, but since it only moves in one direction, it’s best for areas without a lot of folds. There are great features in this trimmer, many similar to ones you find in more expensive models like the LED spotlight, but really it’s all about how effective it is. The additional features are nice, but really, how good a trimmer is really comes down to how well it cuts. And this one cuts very, very well.

What To Consider
There are a lot of body groomers out there, but obviously not all of them are created equal. When trying to decide what body trimmer is right for you, here is what to consider.
Attachments: Trimmers are designed to trim your body hair at a variety of lengths. Generally, a trimmer is not going to completely shave your hair, even if you use the blade directly on your skin without any attachment. They’re designed to leave a little bit of stubble behind (part of that is for safety on sensitive areas and part of that is how trimmer blades are designed). Depending on how long or short you like your body hair, you’ll likely use a length attachment loaded onto the trimmer to achieve it. If you like all your body hair to be the same length, you’ll only need one or two attachments, but if you like to switch it up or customize your look, you should look for one that comes with a variety of guards. Many will also offer other attachments to use in place of the trimmer blade, like foil shavers and more, which are very handy if you want a more customized look.
Wet/Dry: Usually you use a trimmer on dry skin and hair, but some guys like to use them in the shower to make cleanup easier. If you’re an in-shower groomer, you’ll definitely want to look for a trimmer that can be used both wet and dry. Wet/dry capabilities meaning it’s at the bare minimum water resistant (and in some cases completely waterproof) so you won’t damage the device if you use it in the shower. Another benefit to a wet/dry trimmer, even if you’re not a shower trimmer, is that they’re typically easier to clean because you can just run them under a running faucet.
Features: Most features you find in body groomers are designed to make the shaving experience easier. We’re talking about things like LED spotlights to help illuminate dark, hard to see areas, ergonomic no-slip designs, technology to make blades gentler on skin, travel locks and more. Most of these are great to have and actually do make the trimming experience more comfortable, but how good a trimmer is ultimately always comes down to one thing: how well it trims your body hair. Features are always nice to have, but often not essential and can, in some cases, drive up the price of the device.
How Safe Are Body Groomers?
Most body groomers are specifically designed to use on your body, which means there usually are safeguards in place for sensitive areas. Typically, the blades themselves will have some sort of protection against nicks and cuts, especially if the groomer is designed to be used on your groin, balls, and other areas that you definitely don’t want to injure. Some will also feature shaver heads that are designed for the body as well.
That said, there is always some risk involved because no human is perfect. If you do cut yourself in a sensitive area, makes sure to clean and dress the cut quickly to avoid infection. Pro tip: If you’re trying to get a clean shave, trim the hair down to the lowest setting first before shaving, to avoid longer hairs getting caught in the blades (which can lead to pulling and nicks).

Can You Use the Same Trimmer on Your Face and Body?
You can, but it’s not recommended. Unless you clean the blade very well between uses, you run the risk of moving bacteria from one area to the other, particularly if you’re trimming or shaving an area like your groin where bacteria can grow easily (it’s the moisture). A good rule of thumb is to have one trimmer or razor for your face and another for other areas of your body.
Can You Trim in the Shower?
Many guys like to trim or shave their body hair in the shower because it makes cleanup easier, and many groomers these days are designed to be used in both wet and dry settings. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with grooming in the shower, but keep in mind that it tends to be harder to cut hair when it’s soaking wet. We recommend doing it dry, before getting in the shower, and applying a bit of baby powder to the area first to soak up any excess moisture on the skin. It also helps plump up hair to make it easier and faster to cut.

Why Trust Us
When it comes to devices like body groomers you can rest assured that we’re hand-selecting products that we’ve personally tested, tried, and loved. Our grooming editor Garrett Munce, along with the rest of the style team, has spent years trimming, shaving, and test driving dozens of body groomers and we are confident that these are the best.
Every pick on this list (and our other lists) comes from these years of testing. We know that everyone’s bodies are different, no two men are the same, and what works for you may not work for everyone else. But if you’re looking for the right place to start, with advice from folks who care (possibly too much!) about this sort of stuff, this is the place to be.
